The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, Chief Mrs. Shimite Winifred, has tragically passed away following an alleged domestic violence incident in Asaba involving her husband, Pastor David Favour.
Some sources say the lady was poisoned by her husband. Family insiders revealed that they have always had “trust” issues after her rise in politics.

He is currently in police custody as investigations into the incident unfold.
Winifred, a respected trade and economic expert, was known for her work in promoting commerce, culture, and development in Delta State and across Nigeria.
She served as the Coordinator of the Delta State UNIDO Centre and was the state’s focal person for the implementation of the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme.
Beyond government service, she made significant contributions in media and tourism. She was the creator and presenter of African Pot, a television documentary that celebrated traditional African cuisine, tourism, and culture. Her efforts earned her national and international recognition.
Winifred also held prominent positions in regional trade development initiatives. She was a member of the Steering Committee of USAID/NEXTT’s Lakaji Trade Corridor and sat on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Economic Change in Africa (FESECA). Her voice was also prominent in the media space, serving as a contributing editor on travel and tourism for publications including Daily Trust and Leadership.
Her untimely death has sparked an outpouring of grief and anger, with many calling for stronger action against domestic violence. Advocacy groups and citizens alike are urging.
Reports say she was sister to a popular media personality, Agatha Amata.
