United Nigeria Airlines continues probe despite apologies from Verydarkman, Mr Jollof

United Nigeria Airlines says its investigation into the in-flight altercation involving comedian Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) and social media activist Martins Otse (Verydarkman) is still underway, despite the pair’s public apologies.

Both men released separate apology videos in which they narrated their perspectives on the confrontation aboard a United Nigeria aircraft. They asked for forgiveness from the airline, aviation authorities, and affected passengers, acknowledging the disruption caused by their clash, which led to flight delays and potential criminal scrutiny.

In his video, Mr Jollof insisted he was not a violent person, claiming he acted in self-defence. He apologised to the airline, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, and passengers whose plans were disrupted.

“I sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers. I am very sorry if the delay affected your appointments. It will never happen again,” he said, also addressing his family in an emotional aside.

Verydarkman, meanwhile, accepted responsibility for his behaviour, admitting that passengers were inconvenienced by the dispute.

“What happened should never have occurred, and I take full responsibility. People may have had emergencies or important business, and I don’t know how the delay affected them. I acted irresponsibly,” he said.

He apologised to the airline, passengers, and supporters who were disappointed by his conduct, adding that while he could not promise he would never again engage in a fight, he could guarantee it would never occur on a plane, bus, or in any public space that delays others.

However, United Nigeria Airlines confirmed that the apologies have not concluded the matter.

When contacted, the airline’s spokesperson, Chibuike Uloka, stated that the inquiry into the incident is still underway and no final decision has been made.

“Investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
