Two men, William Offor and Syprien Azangbe, were on Thursday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ebute-Metta for allegedly stealing wood said to be worth N6 million.
The two are now facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing slammed on them by the police.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Olatunde Kehinde, told the court that the defendants and others who are presently on the run conspired and stole the wood valued at N6m, from Olanrewaju Tajudeen and Akudo Omotayo on July 19, 2022, at No. 150, Abeokuta Street, around the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos state.
The offence, the prosecutor reminded, is against Sections 411 and 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
After the charges were read to them, the defendants pleaded not guilty; just as their counsel asked the court to grant them bail.
Before adjourning the case to September 20, for trial, Magistrate Kayode granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
