The police in Lagos state is currently finding it difficult to identify owners of a rampaging cow which on Wednesday morning headbutted a 30-year-old man, Ubani Usman, to death at the abattoir located in the Agege area of the state.
Eyewitnesses explained that the police stormed the abattoir immediately information reached them about the incident and attempts to “arrest the cow” were unsuccessful as the butchers decided to stay numb and refused to pinpoint the cow.
The victim it was gathered was rushed to the general hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival by one of the doctors on duty.
“The man was standing not far from the abattoir when the incident happened. The cow broke loose, and before we knew it, it had rammed the man down. We took the victim to the general hospital in the area, but he was later confirmed dead by a doctor.
“When the policemen came to arrest the ram and the owners, the people in the abattoir were not helpful at all. So no arrest has been made”, one of the eyewitnesses who craved anonymity said.
