As he grieved the passing of musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Senator Ned Nwoko stated that he hoped to propose a bill that would make it a countrywide requirement for an autopsy to be performed within a certain time before anyone is buried.
Mohbad, also referred to as Imole, passed away on the 12th of September, in Lagos, at the age of 27.
The federal legislator expressed his sympathies on Tuesday by writing a post on Instagram with his wife, the actress Regina Daniels, saying, “The unfortunate and untimely death of Mohbad has raised many issues that should be addressed promptly. The circumstances of his death and the cause of death should not be left to speculations.
“The police and the DSS should wade in immediately but more importantly, the state government should order for an autopsy report without further formalities. This should have been done and reported to the station for clearance before he was buried.”
The politician said that he intended to present a measure mandating that an autopsy be performed countrywide within a certain amount of time before anyone is buried and that the expense of such reports is covered by the governments (local and state governments).
He added that nobody’s demise should be subject to the irrational speculation of others. The criminal should be punished while the innocent should be safeguarded. Situations like this lead to the creation of new laws to improve national governance.
Newspread earlier reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) has been requested to participate in the investigation into the late singer’s death by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Youths from several states in the nation held peaceful demonstrations on Tuesday to call for justice for the singer.
