How Police rescued Abuja kidnap victims from dreaded Kaduna forest | Video

The Police have rescued some kidnap victims who were taken away from Abuja in recent weeks.

The FCT command spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh announced the successful rescue of some victims who were abducted on January 2, in the Bwari Area Council, Abuja.

Among those rescued are the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar sisters who were abducted on January 2.

It will be recalled that the bandits abducted the entire family but their father was later freed, to go and look for the ransom to secure the release of his children while his brother, Alhaji Abdulfatai, who led policemen to foil their abduction, was shot dead by the bandits.

The killing of Naheeba by the bandits after their family failed to pay the ransom sparked nationwide outrage and reaction from the first lady, Remi Tinubu.

The command spokesperson in a Sunday statement titled “FCT Police rescues Bwari kidnapped victims, reunites victims with family” revealed the abductees were rescued from Kajuru the dreaded forest in Kaduna state, in a Saturday night joint operation with the troops of the Nigerian Army.

The statement also reveals that the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, has vowed to sustain the existing robust security arrangements in all violent crimes affected areas, and beyond.

The statement reads:

“Following the relentless advancement of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping squad, in concerted efforts with troops of the Nigerian Army, regarding the kidnappers that struck the Zuma 1 area in the Bwari Area Council on January 2, 2024, the FCT Police have successfully rescued the victims, reuniting them with their families.

“The operatives accomplished this near Kajuru forest in Kaduna state around 11:30 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Haruna G. Garba, psc, appreciates the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for deploying the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad.

“This deployment has uplifted the existing security architecture of the FCT and fostered public confidence. CP Haruna G. Garba emphasizes the command’s commitment to sustaining robust security deployment in the area and other parts of the FCT for the utmost maintenance of peace for all.

Newspread.ng had earlier reported the arrest of a notorious Abuja based kidnapper, Chinaza Philip Okoye alongside 16 other suspects, arrested in connection to kidnappings and other violent crimes perpertrated in the Federal Capital Territory.
