The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in Nigeria’s North-East region.
The two individuals have been isolated as health authorities commence investigations and laboratory tests to determine their infection status.
According to an update on the disease situation released by the NCDC, contact identification and listing are ongoing, while samples collected from the suspected cases are undergoing laboratory testing.
The agency clarified that the classification of the individuals as suspected cases does not mean they have tested positive for Ebola, stressing that confirmation would depend on the outcome of laboratory investigations.
It urged members of the public to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe enhanced sanitation practices and adhere to preventive guidelines issued by public health authorities.
The NCDC said further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
