A wanted kindnap kingpin alongside five other members of his gang have been arrested by police operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, attached to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja Command.
20-year old Buhari Muhammad, who has been on the police wanted list for his role in kidnapping one Joshua Eze, January 27, was arrested alongside his gang members, at their hideout in a hotel, located at Bassa Village, Abuja.
The apprehended suspects, notorious for kidnapping and other violent crimes in the FCT and its environs also shot one Blessing Eze, wife of the abducted Joshua, during the kidnap operation-although the victim was rescued unhurt by FCT police personnel, the next day.
Speaking on the arrest on Monday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who said the development is in line with the Police fight against criminality in FCT gave names of the other apprehended suspects as:
i. Muhammad Sabiu (20 yrs old male)
ii. Isah Abdullahi Hamzat (male)
iii. Musa (21 yrs old male)
iv. Fatima Abdullahi (22yrs old female)
v. Zuliat Yusuf (23 yrs old female).
On items recovered from the suspects, Adeh said:
“One AK47 rifle, 10 mobile phones, cash sum of three hundred and forty-five thousand naira and some other valuables were recovered from the suspects who have since confessed to the crime and other kidnapping incidents in the Territory.
“Investigation is still ongoing.”
Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, has said he is committed in the fight to eliminate crime from the FCT.
CP Igweh, while giving this assurance, urged members and residents of the FCT to aid the fight against crime by reporting suspicious activities.
