‘Our ticket open’ – APC denies printing sole presidential nomination form for Tinubu

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed speculations that it intends to print a single presidential nomination form exclusively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

National Organising Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sulaiman Argungu, made the clarification during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

Argungu explained that while the National Working Committee (NWC), state chapters, and party stakeholders across all six geopolitical zones have unanimously endorsed President Tinubu as their preferred candidate, the process remains open to all interested aspirants.

“It will be the wish of the party, and we, the NWC, have already endorsed President Tinubu as our next presidential candidate. Governors and other organs of the party have also done the same,” he said. “But this does not mean the door is closed. Anybody who wishes to aspire for the presidency under the APC platform will still be free to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms.”

He stressed that the APC remains committed to internal democracy, adherence to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable, and compliance with the Electoral Act to guarantee a credible and inclusive selection process.

Argungu further pointed to the party’s recent victories in bye-elections conducted in opposition strongholds as evidence of Nigerians’ growing confidence in President Tinubu’s administration and the APC’s progressive vision.

On allegations that the Organising Department has been sidelined in the conduct of primaries, he dismissed the claims, insisting his leadership since 2022 has introduced innovations that encourage transparency and teamwork.

Addressing concerns over the upcoming governorship primaries in Ekiti State, the Organising Secretary clarified that no aspirant has been excluded. “So far, four aspirants, including the incumbent governor, have purchased forms. Two are men, while two women are beneficiaries of our gender-sensitive policy, which grants free nomination forms to female aspirants,” he explained.
