Army confirms arrest of IPOB commander ‘Gentle’, eight others in Imo, Ebonyi

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of a wanted commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), identified as Gentle, along with eight other suspected criminals in separate operations across Imo and Ebonyi States.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this during the biweekly Defence Media briefing held in Abuja.

According to Kangye, the arrests were made by troops of Operation UDO KA during coordinated raids in Owerri West, Mbaitoli, and Izzi Local Government Areas of Imo and Ebonyi States.

He noted that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace in the South-East region.

Major General Kangye further outlined other recent successes recorded by the Armed Forces in various theatres of operation nationwide, reaffirming the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring national security.
