A senatorial aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Edo South, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinwa, has expressed regret over leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the NDC, describing the move as going “from the frying pan to hell fire.”
Speaking on Arise News on Friday, the former House of Representatives member alleged that despite emerging victorious in the party’s senatorial primary election, he is now being denied the opportunity to appear on the ballot.
Agbonayinwa claimed that the NDC’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, initially encouraged him to contest for the Senate by purchasing the party’s nomination form, but later denied having any such conversation with him.
According to him, the party’s primary election was conducted on May 29 after efforts to reach a consensus among aspirants failed. However, more than a week later, he said the outcome of the exercise had yet to be officially announced.
“I’ve moved from the frying pan to hell fire. I have never experienced anything like this in APC or PDP. We went through the primary process, but till now the results have not been announced,” he said.
The former governorship aspirant added that he was shocked when Dickson reportedly denied encouraging him to seek the Senate ticket, despite what he described as a longstanding relationship between them.
