The Omo-Ilu Foundation, founded by the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, has raised the alarm over individuals allegedly parading themselves as coordinators, leaders and authorised representatives of the organisation across Ogun State.
The Foundation, in a statement signed by its Board of Trustees and dated August 17, 2027, urged politicians, political organisations, community leaders and members of the public to be cautious when dealing with anyone claiming to represent it without proper authorisation.
The warning comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Foundation, it has not authorised the individuals in question to represent, coordinate or speak on its behalf in any capacity.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Omo-Ilu Foundation has not authorised these individuals to represent, coordinate or speak on behalf of the Foundation in any capacity,” the statement said.
The organisation said anyone presenting himself or herself as a coordinator or principal representative without the knowledge and authorisation of its recognised leadership was acting without a mandate.
It also questioned how individuals could legitimately claim to be leaders or coordinators of the Foundation without the knowledge of Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, son of the late founder and a key custodian of his father’s legacy.
The Foundation said its headquarters in Ijebu-Igbo was also unaware of the activities being attributed to the alleged representatives.
It stressed that it maintains established structures across all 20 local government areas of Ogun State and that those structures remain intact.
The organisation further stated that Omo-Ilu Foundation is duly incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and has an established identity, leadership and organisational structure.
The Foundation accused the alleged impersonators of seeking personal or political advantage by misrepresenting its activities and warned that it would not allow its name and reputation to be exploited.
The statement also highlighted the humanitarian legacy of Senator Buruji Kashamu, saying the late politician committed personal resources to supporting vulnerable people, empowering communities and improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
It said the Foundation, under the leadership of Rasheed Kashamu, remained committed to preserving and advancing those values through its recognised structures.
The organisation therefore advised politicians, political parties, community leaders, organisations and prospective partners to verify claims of representation directly with its recognised leadership before engaging individuals claiming to act on its behalf.
The Foundation also warned that it reserved the right to take legal and administrative action against anyone found to be impersonating its officials, misrepresenting its activities or using its name without authorisation.
On its political position ahead of the 2027 elections, the Foundation reaffirmed its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It also declared support for the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as governor of Ogun State, as well as the senatorial ambition of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The Foundation urged all stakeholders to disregard unauthorised representations and rely only on information issued by its recognised leadership and established structures.
It said it would continue to protect the legacy of its founder, uphold the integrity of the organisation and remain focused on service to the people.
