Troops capture Kachalla Maha terrorist commanders linked to Gen. Rabe killing

Troops of the Nigerian military operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have captured several senior commanders of the notorious terrorist group known as Kachalla Maha in Katsina State.

The operation, conducted on Sunday, September 20, 2026, reportedly led to the arrest of Samagi, identified as one of the group’s top commanders, alongside other senior members.

The suspects are accused of playing prominent roles in kidnapping, killings and other violent attacks across parts of the North-West. The group has also been linked to the reported killing of Major General Abubakar Rabe.

The operation involved troops working closely with local vigilantes, whose support and intelligence reportedly aided the security forces in tracking the terrorists through difficult and remote terrain.

The capture of Samagi and other senior commanders is expected to provide security agencies with valuable intelligence on the group’s leadership structure, operational methods, hideouts, supply networks and possible collaborators.

The arrests could also assist ongoing investigations into previous attacks and help security agencies trace other members of the network operating in Katsina and neighbouring states.

The suspects are expected to undergo further investigation to establish their individual roles and determine their possible involvement in other violent incidents.

Further details, including the exact number of suspects arrested and any weapons or other items recovered during the operation, are expected from the military authorities.

The development comes as security forces intensify coordinated operations aimed at disrupting terrorist networks, restricting their freedom of movement and protecting communities across the North-West.
