Otedola: I’m proud of Tinubu, reforms driving growth

Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has expressed his continued support for President Bola Tinubu, praising the administration’s economic reforms and what he described as signs of renewed confidence in the Nigerian economy.

Otedola stated this on Tuesday after sharing a photograph of himself with Tinubu following a private dinner with the President in Paris, France, on Monday night.

The businessman said Tinubu’s “bold and forward-thinking reforms” had placed the Nigerian economy on what he described as a path of sustainable growth.

He cited the inclusion of leading Nigerian companies in the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index, the performance of the Nigerian Exchange, increased foreign direct investment and what he described as greater economic confidence.

Otedola also pointed to a more stable foreign exchange market and Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which he said stood at about $55 billion.

He wrote: “The results are increasingly evident: top Nigerian companies now included on the FTSE Russell Frontier 50 Index, the NGX at historic highs, increased foreign direct investment and renewed economic confidence, a unified and more stable foreign exchange market, foreign reserves standing strong at about $55 billion, and so much more.

“I remain proud of you, Mr. President!”

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday after spending about four weeks abroad on leave that began on August 30.

The President initially travelled to London before proceeding to Paris, where he held meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré.

According to his aides, Tinubu is expected to arrive in Lagos ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on October 1 before returning to Abuja at the weekend.
