33-year-old man arrested for writing FCTA promotion exam for father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly writing a promotion examination on behalf of his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

Monsuru was caught on Wednesday, the third day of the promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission, at the examination venue located within the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

He was reportedly apprehended by security operatives deployed following the directive of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

During interrogation, Monsuru claimed that his father was sick but was within the examination premises. He allegedly told the operatives that his father had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru said he was between 67 and 68 years old. However, Musa Mohammed gave a different account, claiming that he would turn 60 in February 2027.

Further questioning revealed that the father said he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Both father and son were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to Department of State Services (DSS) operatives.
