Tinubu’s Saudi trip: Atiku demands daily photos, videos

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has urged the Presidency to release daily photographs and videos of President Bola Tinubu performing Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Atiku made the demand in a statement issued on Wednesday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the African Democratic Congress presidential campaign council.

Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Thursday for the Islamic pilgrimage and is expected to return to Nigeria next week, according to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

Atiku, however, questioned the President’s announced destination, expressing concerns that he might make a brief stop in Makkah before proceeding to France.

He also raised questions about the President’s health and a reported $20 billion loan request involving a French business partner, urging the Presidency to disclose Tinubu’s full itinerary.

The former Vice-President called for clear, current and date-stamped photographs and videos showing Tinubu at the Kaaba and participating in the Umrah rites.

He argued that Nigerians deserved verifiable evidence of the President’s presence in Makkah and transparency regarding his daily engagements and the funding of the trip.

Atiku said he and other Nigerians would join the President in praying for the country’s peace and progress.

He also cautioned against invoking Allah’s name in vain, insisting that a spiritual mission undertaken on behalf of the nation should be treated with seriousness and transparency.
