Tinubu to present 2027 budget before year-end

President Bola Tinubu will present the 2027 federal budget to the National Assembly before the end of 2026, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Anite-Uzoka, has said.

The minister disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

“We are working on the budget for 2027, and the intention is to present it before the end of the year,” she said in response to a question on the proposed presentation date.

The announcement comes weeks after the Budget Office of the Federation directed ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to submit their 2027 personnel cost proposals alongside their establishment Acts.

The directive was contained in a Personnel Costs Budget Call Circular dated September 4, 2026, and signed by the Director-General of the Budget Office, Tanimu Yakubu.

Under the new requirement, all MDAs must attach their establishment Acts to their personnel cost proposals, following the controversy surrounding the discovery of fictitious government agencies by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

The circular also barred agencies not captured on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System from receiving personnel cost allocations in the 2027 budget.
