The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended actor, Jerry Williams indefinitely due to his involvement with illicit substances.
The AGN in a statement disclosed that it had been monitoring his drug use since December 2022 and had given him the opportunity to seek medical attention for his addiction, but he had refused.
The AGN leadership announced the suspension on June 28.
Williams is a popular Nollywood actor who has appeared in several movies and television shows. His suspension has come as a shock to many of his fans and colleagues in the industry. The AGN has not yet commented on whether Williams will be allowed to return to acting if he seeks treatment and recovers from his addiction.
Drug abuse has become a serious problem in the country and the AGN’s decision to suspend Williams sends a strong message that the practice will not be tolerated in the entertainment industry.
