APC, ADC supporters clash over alleged vote-buying in Ekiti

A supporter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was injured during a clash with supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Polling Unit 4, Ward 2, Ilawe-Ekiti, during Saturday’s governorship election.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from allegations of vote-buying. ADC governorship candidate, Dare Bejide, alleged that individuals attempted to distribute cash to voters near the polling unit but were stopped, leading to a heated confrontation.

According to Bejide, a prominent APC member arrived in a vehicle with a large amount of money allegedly intended for distribution, triggering arguments and a subsequent scuffle. During the fracas, one ADC supporter sustained a head injury and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Despite the incident, Bejide commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the overall conduct of the election, describing electoral officials as diligent and the voting process as largely orderly.
