Breaking: Tinubu becomes Nigeria’s President

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Kashim Shettima have both been sworn-in as President and Vice President of Nigeria.

Kayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria administered the Oath of Office, few minutes ago at the inauguration ceremony, taking place at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the 2023 elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes in the election.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third in the election with a total of 6,101,533 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) came fourth with 1,496,687 votes.

Tinubu, popularly known as “Jagaban or City-boy” has held the positions of Senator and one time former governor of Lagos State.
