Chidiebere Okoroafor, the founder of Alter of Solution and Healing Assembly in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State has been sentenced to death by a high court in the state.

Pastor Okoroafor has been standing trial for killing the choir mistress of the Church, whom he impregnated and two others, a mother and her daughter, since 2018.

Delivering judgement on the case on Monday, Justice S O Benson said Pastor Okoroafor’s evidence and confessional statement proved he murdered his Church’s choir mistress after getting her pregnant and also killed her friend, Chigozie Ezenwa with her 11-months old daughter, Christabel Ezenwa.

Satisfied that the prosecution proved the case of murder against the pastor, Justice Benson sentenced the Pastor to death and ordered that he be killed by hanging on his neck until he is dead or be injected with a lethal injection which also kills faster.

Okoroafor was arrested by police operatives on December 17, 2018 after the husband of the late Ezenwa raised an alarm notifying them of the killing of the three victims on December 11, 2018 at two different locations in a community in Oyigbo

The joyous prosecuting counsels, Precious Ordu, from the state Ministry of Justice, and Antonia Osademe, representing the International Federation of Female Lawyers in the murder trial described the judgement as justice well served.

Meanwhile, Innocent Ekwu, the convicted Pastor’s counsel said he will appeal the judgement against his client.
