Police storm kidnappers’ hideout in Rivers, kill three cultists

Officers of the Rivers State Police Command have killed three more alleged cultists and kidnappers who terrorised the Emohua axis of the East-West Road.

In a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters on Moscow Road in Port Harcourt, Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Polycarp Emekam said that on June 16 at 3:30 pm, operatives of the Rivers State police command raided the kidnappers’ hideout at Ishiodu forest, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State.

The kidnappers started shooting when they spotted the officers. However, three of the kidnappers were killed as a result of the operatives’ stronger firearms.

The Commissioner stated that a doctor at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital had confirmed the suspects’ demise.

According to him, two AK-47s with eight magazines each holding 70 rounds of live ammo and 10 cartridges were found on the suspects.

Speaking further, the Commissioner revealed that on the 2nd of June, while on their normal patrol along School Road, the officers discovered the body of a young guy who had been tied to a transformer with multiple wounds.

He also stated that one of the suspects has been detained in an effort to piece together how the unidentified young guy died.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police promised that there would be no place for criminals to hide in the state, adding that the process of purging Rivers State of criminals and crimes had already begun. He said that they would do everything in their power to ensure that they do their best.
