Five Katsina kidnap victims rescued by Police

Five kidnapped victims earlier whisked away by terrorists who had attacked a community in Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina state early Sunday morning, have been rescued.

This was made known by the spokesperson of the Katsina state police command, ASP Aliyu Abubakar in a statement on Monday; just as it was also revealed that the police are on the trail of the criminals who had perpetrated the attack.

The police frontman made known that it’s officers was informed that the terrorists in their numbers, stormed Sabon Gida village in the council in the wee hours of Sunday and kidnapped the victims. The criminals were taking the victims towards Kankara when the policemen ambushed them (the terrorists) and engaged them in a heated gun battle.

The five kidnapped people were however rescued unhurt while the terrorists ran into the forests.

“On 6, August, 2023, at about 5 a.m, information was received that terrorists armed with dangerous weapons such as the AK-47 rifle, shooting sporadically, attacked Sabon Gida village, Malumfashi Local Government Area, kidnapped five (5) people, and were moving towards Kankara Local Government Area. Upon receipt of the report, promptly, DPO Kankara mobilized his men to the scene, where they engaged the suspected terrorist in a fierce gun duel and successfully rescued all the kidnapped victims unhurt.

“Efforts are on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects.

“Investigation is going,” Abubakar informed.
