The Inspector General of Police, Dr Olukayode Egbetokun, has unveiled the first State Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in Lagos State on Wednesday.
The CRU it was gathered, is a unit established to receive and resolve complaints from the public against police officers.
The Inspector-General of Police had earlier ordered State Commissioners of Police to establish Complaint Response Units nationwide.
Furthermore, the CRU is expected to improve the relationship between the police and the public by providing a platform for citizens to report cases of police misconduct and receive feedback on the status of their complaints.
In his address, Egbetokun said that the unit is part of the police force’s efforts to improve accountability and transparency in its operations.
The unit will be responsible for receiving complaints from the public, investigating them, and providing feedback to the complainants.
