Cyberstalking Case Against Doris Ogala Adjourned Again

A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the cyberstalking case involving Nollywood actress Doris Ogala until October 28, 2026, after she failed to appear in court for the second consecutive hearing due to health-related reasons.

Ogala is facing a four-count charge filed by cleric Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry. The charges include cyberbullying, dissemination of false information, publication of private materials without consent, and attempted extortion.

At Tuesday’s proceedings, Ogala’s counsel, N.C. Atulomah, informed the court that his client was receiving treatment at a Federal Medical Centre and had submitted affidavits in support of an application for adjournment. He assured the court that she would be present at the next hearing.

The prosecution, led by Tolulope Mokuola, questioned the validity of the health claims, arguing that medical records indicated Ogala had already been discharged from the hospital. He also noted that she recently participated actively in and won her party’s primary election.

While reluctantly agreeing to the adjournment, the prosecutor warned that he would seek a bench warrant should Ogala fail to appear in court on the next adjourned date.

Justice Akintayo Aluko subsequently fixed October 28, 2026, for the continuation of the matter.

The legal dispute stems from a highly publicised fallout between Ogala and Okafor. The actress had alleged that the cleric was in a relationship with her and had encouraged her to leave her marriage with promises of marriage that were never fulfilled. She later demanded either marriage or compensation, eventually seeking ₦1 billion in damages.

The controversy deepened after Okafor married another woman, initially dismissing Ogala’s reaction before later apologising and acknowledging their past relationship. He subsequently withdrew the apology, claiming it was made under pressure.
