Kano man arrested for raiding graves, stealing headstones

A Kano resident, Imrana Muhammad has the weirdest habit of raiding cemeteries and stealing headstones.

The 22-year-old man who has been arrested and was paraded by the state police command on Thursday confessed that he can’t remember how many gravestones he had stolen so far.

In his words: “I don’t know the number of gravestones I have stolen so far. But I usually go to cemeteries and remove the iron boards and sell them to scrap dealers. I usually go there at 3am.”

The police informed that he was arrested for allegedly trespassing into the Tudun Wada Cemetery in Nasarawa LGA after removing about 20 gravestones.

The police further said that Mohammad confessed to the crime, as he also disclosed that he has been in the business of stealing gravestones and selling them to scavengers and scalp dealers.

In one day, the daring suspect said he could steal about 20 to 30 of the gravestones and make good money from them as a kilogramme goes for N300.
