An escapee from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory has been nabbed in Nasarawa state for allegedly committing another crime.

The state’s Police Command confirmed that Haruna Sunday was arrested for breaking into a house in the Masaka community, in the Karu Local Government Area of the state and stealing property. However, luck ran out of him, as he was grabbed thereafter.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state Police Public Relations Officer informed that Sunday was caught with television set and some mobile phones when he was apprehended on June 8 after policemen were given a heads-up about the incident.

“The suspect confessed to have escaped from Kuje Correctional Centre when it was attacked in 2022″, Nansel said he had confessed after the arrest. He however stated further that Sunday would be transferred to the Nigeria Correctional Service as soon as possible.

On further interrogation, Nansel said the suspect had informed that he had been awaiting trial while in prison but after his escape in 2022, he had sought shelter at a friend’s house in Kaduna. He had no choice but to go back to crime.
