The Chairman of Ikosi Isheri LCDA, Lagos State, Samiat Bada, has denied allegations that she forced her staff to buy N650,000 birthday aso ebi.
The allegations surfaced online on Monday, with some social media users claiming that Bada had sent a memo to her staff demanding that they purchase the expensive fabrics for her 50th birthday celebration.
Further search also revealed a petition filed by a group called “Concerned Ikosi Isheri LCDA Residents” who said that they are against Bada for selling N650,000.00 fabrics for her birthday at this difficult time.
Bada has denied the allegations, saying that she never sent any such memo. She also said that she did not compel her staff to contribute financially towards her birthday celebration.
She said: “I stand before you today to address the recent allegations that have been circulating on social media in which the writer claimed that I imposed an N650,000.00 Aso Ebi (traditional fabrics) on my staff.
“There was no formal invitation to my staff, forcing them to contribute financially towards my 50th birthday celebration. I am shocked and disappointed that these false allegations are being circulated online,” Bada said at a press briefing on Tuesday at her office.
Bada further said that she is taking the allegations seriously and that she has instructed her lawyers to investigate the matter. She said that she will take legal action against anyone found to be spreading the false allegations.
The allegations against Bada have sparked outrage on social media, with many people calling for her to be investigated. Some people have also called for her to resign from her position as LG chair.
