The Rivers state Police Command have announced the arrest of a landlord for allegedly attacking his female tenant with a machete.
The incident occurred on May 15, 2022, when the landlord, simply identified as Alabo, reportedly got angry after the tenant, Comfort Nwagadi, rejected his love advances.
Enraged by her refusal, Alabo armed himself with a machete and attacked Nwagadi, inflicting several severe cuts on her.
The landlord’s violent outburst did not stop there; he also turned on Nwagadi’s husband, who attempted to intervene, and inflicted machete wounds on him as well.
Following the attacks, Alabo immediately fled the scene, leaving his victims in a state of shock and pain. Despite an extensive search, the police were unable to apprehend Alabo for months. However, their persistence paid off, and on Sunday, Alabo was finally arrested.
Nwagadi narrated her ordeal: “That day, he also attacked my husband, who tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete, too and ran away that Night. Since then, he has not been seen.
“But yesterday, the Azikiwe Police Station called that they have arrested him. Now that he has been arrested, all I want is justice, ” she said.
She further stated that the arrest of Alabo brings a sense of relief to her and her family, who have been living in fear since the incident.
