Medirest Hospital accuses NDC candidate Ayodele of alleged ₦17.75m property fraud

Medirest Hospital has accused Apostle David Adesua Ayodele, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency in Ekiti State, of an alleged property fraud involving ₦17.75 million paid for a property in Guzape, Abuja.

The hospital alleged that Ayodele collected the money between August 26 and September 4, 2026, but failed to hand over the property as agreed. Instead, he allegedly became evasive before allowing another tenant to occupy the premises.

According to the hospital, its representatives discovered that Mr and Mrs Mohammed had also paid for the property and had already moved in.

Medirest said it subsequently demanded a refund of the ₦17.75 million but had yet to recover the money nearly two months later, despite repeated assurances from Ayodele.

The hospital said it had decided to petition law enforcement agencies over the matter.

When contacted by this newspaper, Ayodele acknowledged receiving the money, saying he had used it to “solve personal issues.”

However, he reportedly claimed to have collected the funds only three weeks ago, a timeline that appears inconsistent with receipts indicating payments between August 26 and September 4, 2026.

Ayodele promised to refund the money by Thursday, although the hospital said previous assurances had not resulted in repayment.

The controversy has also drawn attention to Ayodele’s political ambition as the NDC candidate for Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency. The allegations, if substantiated, could raise questions about his conduct, although the dispute remains an allegation and any determination of criminal liability rests with law enforcement agencies and the courts.

As of the time of filing this report, the hospital said it was preparing to pursue the matter through the relevant authorities. This newspaper could not independently establish whether an investigation had commenced.
