This year’s edition of Felabration will kickstart on Monday, October 9 and run through to Sunday, October 15, 2023. The organisers made this announcement on Friday in a press statement.
This year’s theme of the annual music festival which holds in memory of late Afrobeat superstar, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is ‘Question Jam Answer’. Incidentally, ‘Question Jam Answer’ is a title of a classic record written, composed and released by Fela in 1972.
According to the organisers, this year’s theme fits perfectly to the current political climate of the country, following the just concluded election and the questions that followed.
As usual, the event will feature the following: Musical concert, Artwork competition, Debate from students of senior secondary school, symposium, dance competition, dress Fela competition and other activities.
The organisers said top Nigerian and foreign music stars have already shown interest to attend and would be performing at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos.
The maiden edition of the week-long event was held in 1998. The concept, according to Yeni Kuti who owns the right, is to honour the legacy of her late father, music and times. The even attracts thousands from around the world.
