A couple, Olubayo and Suliya Temitope, have been arraigned before an Ore Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo State for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities.
The couple was charged with a N6.4 million fraud and were arraigned on two counts of fraud of obtaining money under false pretence.
The court was informed that the couple committed the crime between January and August at the Kajola area of Araromi-Obu, a jurisdiction of the Magistrate Court.
The prosecution further claimed that the couple fraudulently obtained the said sum from the duo of Kazeem Mojirade Sarufat and Kazeem Morufat, promising to supply them with kegs of palm oil. However, they failed to do as promised but instead converted the money to their private use.
According to Inspector Muyideen Yekini, the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 516, 419 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred on them.
Chief Magistrate, B.A. Ikusika, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1m each with two sureties in like sum. The case was then adjourned to a later date.
