Tennis superstar, Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, have welcomed their second child into the world.

Ohanian made the announcement via TikTok on August 22, sharing a video that showed her holding the newborn. The couple named their daughter Adira River Ohanian

He also added that both were “happy & healthy” after the difficult birth of the tennis star’s first child left her fighting for her life.

“I’m grateful to report that our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama,” her husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, posted on Instagram alongside a photograph of himself with a beaming Williams hugging both her daughters.

He said that his 41-year-old wife, had “given me another incomparable gift — you’re the GMOAT,” a new maternal twist on the popular sporting accolade- Greatest Of All Time.

It would be recalled that in 2017, Williams has been open about the challenges she faced during and after her first pregnancy, including a life-threatening pulmonary embolism that led to multiple surgeries and a long recovery period.

She later battled back to make her return to competition just five months later in Fed Cup doubles alongside her sister, Venus.

Last year, Williams retired from tennis after her final match. She said: ” I’m ready to be a mom and explore a different version of myself.”
