In a tragic incident on Thursday during a downpour in Kwara state, a tea seller and his customer were killed by a thunder strike.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the sad incident, the strikes occurred at Onigbegiri Junction, Eyenkorin in Asa Local Government Area of the state.
An eyewitness, Mojeed Onigbegiri, who spoke to journalists said the tea seller, who was a Hausa man, and an unidentified customer were at the tea stall at about 6.30pm during a heavy downpour when the thunder struck, resulting in their unfortunate demise.
“The lightning strike was sudden and unexpected, causing a tragic loss of life”, Onigbrgiri said.
However, SP Ajayi Ajayi further said that the tea seller who was Hausa has since been buried , while the corpse of his customer, a Yoruba man has not been claimed by his family because they said a rite must be performed before he can be laid to rest.
