Troops recover RPGs, IEDs as Lakurawa terrorists flee Kebbi offensive

Troops of Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered a cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and other equipment following a successful offensive against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.

The operation, conducted on June 14, 2026, targeted terrorist hideouts around the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Nigerian Army, troops deployed superior firepower during the operation, overwhelming the terrorists and forcing them to abandon their positions and flee.

A subsequent pursuit of the fleeing suspects along their withdrawal routes led to the recovery of several weapons, explosives, and logistics items left behind in their camp.

Items recovered include Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility, battery chargers, and other personal belongings.

The Army disclosed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The military described the operation as another significant step in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across the North-West region.

It noted that the success underscores the commitment of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to sustaining pressure on criminal elements and denying them the ability to carry out attacks on communities.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to continue offensive operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and enhancing the safety and security of residents across the region.
