Two brothers extradited to US to face sexual extortion charges

In a significant development, the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) revealed on Monday that two Nigerian men have been extradited to the United States to face charges related to sexual extortion.

This development was made known by the spokesperson of EFCC, Wilson Uwujiaren, who informed that the commission on Sunday, facilitated the extradition of Samuel Ogoshi and his brother, Samson, to the United States of America, to face charges for sexually exploiting various young men, including teenage boys in the Western District of Michigan and across America as a whole.

Uwujaren further stated that the EFCC started the extradition proceedings at the Federal High Court, Abuja in May against the brothers and one Ezekiel Ejemeh Robert over the said allegations following a request by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The extradition comes after the death of a Michigan teenager, which led to an investigation into an international sexual extortion ring.

The FBI had said that the brothers contact the minors to produce child pornographic images that the defendants now use to blackmail and stalk them.

The offences, Uwujaren said carry a minimum of five years imprisonment and maximum 20 years behind bars.

Particularly, Samuel was charged with causing the death of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay of Marquette, Michigan, who died after he shot himself in March 2022.

“The trio allegedly hacked some social media accounts, posing to be young attractive women to entice unsuspecting victims to send their sexually explicit photographs.

“These pictures were then used to blackmail the victims, thereby forcing them into making huge financial payments,” he said.

Recall that the brothers were arrested sometime in February around the Ojo area of Lagos. Robert whose extradition is still pending was fished out in Nasarawa state by operatives of the EFCC.
