The Abambra State Police through its spokesperson DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, has revealed it has commenced investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of Miss Chinyere Awuda.
Ikenga while confirming the incident on Thursday said the police swung into action and arrested a suspect, following reports by family members, that their daughter who was beaten and taken hostage by some men in a club, has been found lifeless, inside an abandoned swimming pool in a hotel, which belongs to the club owner.
According to Uloka Chibuike, a source privy to inside information, Chinyere, a native of Nnobi, in Idemmili South Local Government Area of the state, went clubbing on Saturday at Club Mila, a nightclub reportedly owned by Cosmila Hotels, where her body was later found.
While clubbing, a certain Mr. Gabriel Chinemere and some of his friends who also went clubbing, started beating and molesting the deceased for reasons yet to be ascertained.
It was gathered that other clubbers made efforts to rescue the victim from her assailants but the club manager, one Steven Junior, who was present during the incident, ordered the club security guards and bouncers to stand down and switch off the lights.
The assailants allegedly used this opportunity to drag the victim outside the club and her whereabouts became unknown.
Chibuike further narrated that it was only after family members got information about the club incident, they visited the hotel, where the deceased lifeless body was discovered in the hotel’s abandoned swimming pool.
With this development, the family of the deceased contacted the Anambra State Police who stormed the hotel, recovered the deceased remains and arrested a suspect, whose identity is yet to be disclosed.
