The Anambra State Government has sealed off, Cosmila hotel, Akwa, the state capital, following the gruesome murder of Chinyere Awuda, who was beaten to death and her corpse dumped in the hotel’s abandoned swimming pool.
Newspread had earlier reported that the deceased, a native of Nnobi, in Idemmili South Local Government Area of the state was seen in the club that night. She had gone clubbing on Saturday at Club Mila, a nightclub owned by Cosmila Hotels. She was said to have been beaten by some other clubbers while her remains was later found in the abandoned pool few days later by her family members.
The police recovered the body of the deceased and arrested some suspects who are currently undergoing investigation, while Chinyere’s family, vowed to push for justice.
Though the reason for the assault and molestation which led to her death has not been ascertained, rumour has it that the deceased was accused of stealing money from a celebrant, who was hosting his birthday in the club.
However, the Anambra State government who noted Cosmila Hotel is not registered in the state as a hospitality outlet has sealed the hotel pending outcome of investigation by the police.
Comrade Don Onyeneji, the state Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment speaking during the sealing on Thursday noted that the government will start acquiring hospitality outlets where heinous crimes are being pepertrated.
It will be recalled that in 2012, Cynthia Osokogo was killed under mysterious circumstances in a hotel with the same name but located in Lagos State.
