After being banned from Twitter eight months ago for abusive posts, Kanye West is back on Twitter, the microblogging platform now known as X.

West, who legally changed his name to Ye, was suspended in December 2022 after tweeting an image with the Star of David and the Swastika.

In the weeks before his suspension, Ye made a number of antisemitic remarks, including one in an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in which he openly lauded Adolf Hitler.

Elon Musk claimed he tried the best he could at the time. Yet, Kanye once more broke their rule on inciting violence and his account was put on hold.

However, Jewish rights organisations criticised Ye’s reinstatement. The nonprofit Stop Antisemitism tweeted regarding the account restoration, “We are disgusted to see antisemite Kanye West unbanned by Twitter. What was once a platform for debate and discussion has simply become a cesspool for bigots to spew their hatred.”

Ye has not tweeted since his account’s restoration as of this writing.

He has a gold verification symbol on his account, which is usually only given to businesses.

The Wall Street Journal also reports that Ye won’t be able to monetize his account and that no adverts would appear next to his tweets.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the tabloid also said that X had restored Ye’s account following assurances that he wouldn’t post offensive or otherwise detrimental content on the platform.

Due to Ye’s controversial remarks, major companies like Adidas have also severed their connections with him.
