Ahmed Usman Ododo the newly sworn in Kogi state governor has nominated members of his cabinet and other top aides on his first day in office.
The 5th elected governor of the confluence state equally appointed Ali Bello, the nephew to immediate past governor Yahaya Bello as his chief of staff.
The younger Bello has had a running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who alleged that he moved cash from government house to BDCs in Abuja when his uncle was governor.
Ododo, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) announced the nomination of some Commissioners, during his inaugural speech to the people of the state. The names are to be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for prompt confirmation as members of the State Executive Council (SEC).
The Commissioner-nominees were majorly members of the immediate-past administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
Some of them are the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Arike; former Commissioner of Information, Kingsley Fanwo; and Deedat Salami Ozigi, among other aides appointed with immediate effect.
Earlier, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Josiah Majebi, swore in Ahmed Usman Ododo as the 5th Executive Governor of Kogi State
Ododo, who was sworn in at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, took the oath of office and allegiance at 2:25 p.m. after his deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, who did earlier at 2:18 p.m.
Meanwhile President Bola Tinubu who travelled out of the country to France on a private visit during the week was seen watching the inauguration on television. Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the event in person.
