NNPC boss raises alarm: ‘Cabal after my life over oil sector reforms’

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) Limited, Bayo Ojulari, has alleged that his life and those of his management team are under serious threat.

Ojulari made the revelation on Thursday when he received a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its president, Comrade Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, his “offence” is the sweeping reforms he has introduced in the oil and gas sector, particularly the turnaround efforts at the nation’s long-dormant refineries, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate.

The NNPCL boss lamented that some powerful vested interests, opposed to the changes, are plotting to force him out of office.

“Despite these threats, I am determined to ensure that the refineries work effectively,” Ojulari vowed. “I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I may have to learn a bit more about politics, but for me, this is a development plan—and I am ready to see it through.”

Ojulari further revealed that management is exploring the NLNG operational model as part of its strategy to fully revive the country’s refineries and restore them to optimal capacity.

He assured that, despite the intimidation, the NNPC remains committed to stabilizing the oil and gas sector for the benefit of Nigerians.
