NDLEA nabs businessman who excreted 127 cocaine wraps, uncovers meth hidden in ceramics

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, after he excreted 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his stomach and private parts.

Ejiofor, who runs boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was intercepted on arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via an Ethiopian Airlines flight on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence.

A body scan revealed that he had ingested illicit drugs and also concealed some in his underwear. Officers recovered 58 wraps of cocaine from his pants, after which he was placed under observation. Over several days, he excreted 69 additional pellets, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted three drug consignments bound for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos. One shipment contained 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in blocks of glass ceramics, while another included pentazocine and tramadol injections weighing 114 grams and 168 grams respectively. A third parcel held 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed inside a Vitamin C container.

Other foiled trafficking attempts involved 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol disguised as black soap tablets destined for Turkey; 169 grams of cocaine hidden in ladies’ handbags en route to Australia; and 568 grams of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, stuffed in herbal containers heading to the United Arab Emirates.

NDLEA also intercepted 27,510 pills of Rohypnol concealed in sachets of alcoholic drinks bound for South Africa at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The operation led to the arrest of a freight agent, a cab driver, and later the mastermind, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi, popularly known as “Yellow,” at Oyingbo Market.

On the same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was arrested while attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol (225mg) and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol (200mg) hidden in food items to Europe. Uyimwen claimed he was trafficking the drugs for someone else for a fee of €945.

Across the country, NDLEA raids continued to yield major seizures. In Edo State, a search of one Emmanuel Sunday’s home led to the recovery of 47 kilograms of skunk. Two suspects — Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo, 48, and Oladejo Taiwo, 52 — were arrested in Osun State with 635 kilograms of skunk, while two others were caught with an additional 100 kilograms.

In Rivers, Katsina, Niger, Ondo, and Kaduna states, multiple arrests were made with large quantities of cannabis, tramadol, pentazocine, and other illicit substances recovered.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to sustain the Agency’s momentum in the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).
