Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey have been selected in the Team of the Tournament for the just-concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The Best XI was announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday.
Osimhen scored four goals and recorded two assists as the Super Eagles claimed AFCON bronze for the ninth time in their history. Lookman emerged as the tournament’s most productive attacker, scoring four goals and providing three assists, earning a place in the AFCON Team of the Tournament for the second consecutive edition.
Bassey was a key figure in Nigeria’s defence, delivering consistent and commanding performances throughout the competition. The 26-year-old anchored a backline that kept clean sheets during the knockout stages.
The CAF-selected XI also features Senegal’s Sadio Mané, who was named Player of the Tournament, and Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, the Golden Boot winner. Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono was named Best Goalkeeper.
Other players included are Idrissa Gueye, Pape Gueye, Achraf Hakimi, Moussa Niakhaté and Noussair Mazraoui.
Senegal won the 2025 AFCON title after defeating hosts Morocco 1–0 in extra time in a dramatic final, while Nigeria secured third place by overcoming Egypt in a penalty shootout.
