NDLEA arrests China-based Nigerian, Angolans after excreting 236 cocaine wraps

Operatives of the (NDLEA) have arrested a China-based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals after they excreted a total of 236 wraps of cocaine at airports in Abuja and Kano.

The suspects were identified as Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, a 34-year-old Nigerian businessman based in China, and two Angolan citizens, Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52.

Chukwudulue was arrested on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the while on a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Doha. NDLEA officers, acting on intelligence, subjected him to a body scan, which confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs. He later excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams. The suspect told investigators he previously ran a business on Lagos Island before relocating to Guangzhou, China, in 2024.

The two Angolans were intercepted the same day at the departure hall of the while preparing to travel to Istanbul, Turkey, via Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines. After testing positive during body scans, they were placed under observation. Mbandu excreted 76 wraps of cocaine weighing 920 grams, while Ngoma expelled 108 pellets weighing 1.33 kilograms. The suspects claimed they were recruited in Luanda and promised $3,000 each for delivering the drugs in Turkey.

In another operation, NDLEA operatives thwarted an attempt by a convicted drug trafficker, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules (garri) to London. Oladimeji, currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, allegedly coordinated the operation from prison using his logistics company. A staff member of the firm, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, was arrested after presenting the consignment at the .

Similarly, NDLEA officers intercepted 1.70 kilograms of skunk hidden in five jerry cans bound for the United Kingdom. The suspect, Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo, an estate surveyor, was later arrested in Lagos following the initial arrest of a cargo agent who presented the consignment.

In Abuja, NDLEA operatives also intercepted a parcel disguised as a children’s toy guitar sent from Enugu. The toy concealed 59.2 grams of Canadian Loud, leading to the arrest of the consignment’s owner in the Life Camp area of the Federal Capital Territory.

In Lagos, officers raided a duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, uncovering a production site for Colorado, a synthetic cannabis. The operation followed the seizure of nitrous oxide canisters in Ajah intended for onward distribution. Several suspects were arrested, and quantities of the illicit substance and precursor chemicals were recovered.

Elsewhere, NDLEA arrested a female drug dealer in Ibadan, Oyo State, recovering quantities of Colos, skunk, methamphetamine, cash, and two vehicles. In Kwara State, over 105,000 pills of tramadol were seized from a suspect during a vehicle interception. In Edo State, five suspects were arrested during a raid in a forest camp where more than 563 kilograms of skunk were recovered.

Across the country, NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns in schools and communities.

Commending the officers involved in the various operations, the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, , urged personnel nationwide to sustain a balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.
