A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, after accusing him of shooting him in a dream.
The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Ayanlade Olayinka.
According to the statement, the case was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters by a resident of Alegunlode Compound in the Sepeteri area.
Police said the suspect allegedly approached his brother while he was seated, struck him on the head with a heavy rock, and fled the scene. The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
Following the report, officers led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited both the scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.
The suspect has since been arrested and reportedly confessed to the crime. He is currently cooperating with investigators.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet investigation, assuring the public that justice will be pursued in accordance with the law.
