Tinubu to security chiefs: Relocate to Maiduguri, vows total defeat of terrorists

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent attacks in Maiduguri, describing them as desperate acts by Boko Haram elements and assuring Nigerians of intensified efforts to eliminate insecurity across the country.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and personally signed by him, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his sympathies to the injured and the people of Borno State. He said the attacks were attempts by criminals to instil fear, noting that such actions indicate the pressure being mounted on them by security forces.

Tinubu commended the Nigerian military and civilian task forces for their bravery in repelling coordinated attacks on military positions in the state. He described the incidents as “desperate acts of evil-minded groups” and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to bring them to justice.

The President disclosed that he recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a high-level meeting with security and intelligence chiefs. According to him, the deployment of these resources is already underway.

He also directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations, while instructing emergency response agencies to ensure adequate medical care for the injured.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to national security, Tinubu declared that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists, vowing that they would be tracked, confronted, and defeated.
“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the President stated.
