APC fires back at ADC, dismisses allegations as baseless

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the opposition party of being responsible for its internal crisis and dismissing its allegations as unfounded.

In a press statement issued in Abuja on April 2, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the ADC as a party plagued by confusion and desperation, alleging that it has resorted to spreading conspiracy theories against the ruling party.

Morka argued that the ADC’s current challenges stem from its failure to properly manage its internal affairs, particularly its leadership dispute. He claimed that the faction led by former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola emerged in violation of the party’s constitutional provisions.

According to the APC spokesperson, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to withdraw recognition of the Mark-led leadership was lawful and consistent with existing court rulings, electoral guidelines, and democratic principles.

He further stated that it was irresponsible for the ADC to blame the APC for problems he described as self-inflicted, adding that the opposition party has shown an inability to adhere to due process or maintain internal order.

Morka also questioned the credibility of the ADC as a viable political platform, asserting that a party unable to resolve its own issues cannot be trusted to govern the country.

He accused the ADC of lacking substantive ideas and focusing primarily on attacking the ruling party, rather than presenting meaningful alternatives to Nigerians.

Reaffirming the APC’s position, Morka said the party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu remain committed to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions to promote national unity, peace, and economic progress.
