LP, NDC mock ADC crisis, urge Nigerians to join them

The Labour Party (LP) and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) have taken jabs at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid its ongoing leadership crisis, using the opportunity to attract new members.

The development follows a decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the rival ADC factions led by David Mark and Nafiu Bala Gombe, citing a review of a Court of Appeal judgement.

INEC stated it would strictly adhere to the court’s ruling in managing the party’s internal dispute. However, the Mark-led faction rejected the commission’s position, accusing it of acting under external influence. The decision effectively leaves the ADC without a leadership recognised by the electoral body.

Reacting in separate posts on X, both LP and NDC mocked the situation. LP said its own leadership dispute had already been settled by the Supreme Court, urging Nigerians to join its ranks.

Similarly, the NDC, recently registered by INEC in February 2026, claimed the ADC was running out of time due to its legal troubles and encouraged Nigerians to align with the party instead.

Meanwhile, INEC has recognised Nenadi Usman as the legitimate national chairperson of the Labour Party following the resolution of its leadership crisis.
