Police nab four bandit suspects, recover weapons in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of firearms and ammunition during an operation in Kaduna State.

The operation, carried out by the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), led to the arrest of Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.

Police authorities said the arrests followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to banditry and other violent criminal activities in the region.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are part of a wider criminal network. Efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry and ensuring the safety of lives and property nationwide.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, also reiterated that operations would continue across affected areas to dismantle criminal groups.
