The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing nationwide operations against drug trafficking, arresting multiple suspects and seizing large quantities of illicit substances across several states.
In Oyo State, operatives arrested two women, Rebecca King, 24, and Olaniyan Opeyemi, 31, in connection with the interception of 1.925kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis. One suspect was apprehended along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, while the other was arrested in Ibadan while attempting to collect the consignment.
In a separate raid within Ibadan, NDLEA officers also arrested a wanted drug dealer, Taofik Adeyemi, alongside an associate. The operation led to the recovery of more than 3kg of skunk and a vehicle. Adeyemi had reportedly evaded arrest for several months prior to his capture.
Elsewhere, in Kaduna State, operatives intercepted 290kg of compressed skunk concealed in a vehicle along the Abuja-Jos highway. In Jigawa State, nearly 50,000 capsules of tramadol were recovered from two suspects.
Further enforcement actions in Borno State resulted in the seizure of over 90,000 tramadol pills and the arrest of suspects, while in Lagos State, a raid at Awolowo Market in Mushin uncovered 740kg of skunk.
Additional seizures and arrests were reported in Osun and Edo states, involving quantities of cannabis, methamphetamine, and other prohibited substances.
Beyond enforcement, the agency sustained its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns across schools, workplaces, and communities nationwide to curb drug use.
NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers for their dedication and urged them to maintain the momentum in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking across the country.
